How a plush toy becomes a team mascot

Somewhere in Australia right now, a Beanie Boo owl is sitting on the front bench at a dance eisteddfod, watching a group of nine year olds compete. He has a name voted on by the troupe, he travels in the teacher's bag, and he has absorbed more nervous cuddles than any toy should.

Beanie Boos make awesome team mascots!

Mascot orders are some of our favourites. Dance clubs started it, as far as our order history goes, but the idea has spread to netball squads, calisthenics teams, swim clubs, cheer teams and more than one classroom.

A good mascot does a few jobs at once. It gives the youngest members something to rally around. It becomes the thing you photograph with the trophy. And in a competition warm up room full of nerves, handing the mascot to the child who needs it most is a move every coach seems to discover independently.

If you are choosing one, here are a few thoughts from the mascot orders we have packed. Match the colours to your uniforms if you can, since Boos come in almost every colour scheme imaginable. Pick a larger size for the official team mascot, so it reads from a distance at presentations. And here is the part clubs love: order a matching regular size Boo for each member, so every dancer or player takes home their own small version of the team mascot at the end of the season. That is where our bulk pricing earns its keep.

This advice is based on years of service in this space.

Every mascot leaves here brand new and genuine Ty. The names, the votes and the nervous cuddles are up to you.
