Forty Boos and counting: display ideas for a growing collection

There is a moment in every Beanie Boo collector's life when the collection outgrows the bed. The owls are three deep on the pillow, someone has to move six unicorns to find a spot to sleep, and a parent quietly starts researching shelves.

Now, to be clear, we are talking about collectors here - folks who buy Boos to collect them for the long term, for the joy they bring and the bright they bring to a room. Boos are like that. They are the rainbow in the lives of so many.

Floating shelves are the classic. A couple of narrow shelves along a bedroom wall hold a surprising number of regular size Boos, keep them off the floor, and turn the collection into decoration. Sort them however the collector likes. By colour is the most striking, by animal type is the most popular, and by order of arrival tells the story of the collection, which some kids love.

Hanging shoe organisers are the budget hero. The clear-pocket kind that hangs on the back of a door holds twenty or more Boos, one peering out of each pocket, and children can rearrange them endlessly without anything falling. For clip size Boos, a simple curtain wire or pegboard lets them hang in rows.

A few practical notes from our care files. Keep display shelves away from bright windows, because direct sun fades the fur over time. Give displayed Boos a light dust every few weeks with a soft brush. And if the tags matter to your collector, fit tag protectors before the Boos go on show, not after the first bent corner.
