Beanie Boos are not just for kids, and the sales data proves it

A confession from our order records: a healthy share of the Beanie Boos we post out are bought by adults, for adults. Nobody needs to be embarrassed about this. We think it deserves celebrating.

Some of it is nostalgia. Plenty of today's thirty-somethings collected Beanie Babies in the 1990s, and picking up the modern Ty ranges scratches an old, familiar itch. A few of our customers have restarted childhood collections and brought their own kids along for the ride, which might be the nicest version of the hobby there is.

Some of it is the desk buddy phenomenon. Walk through any office and you will spot them: a small plush owl beside a monitor, a dragon on a bookshelf in the background of every video call. A Boo is a cheap, cheerful bit of personality in a beige workplace, and it doubles as a conversation starter with every visitor who cannot resist asking about it.

The same is true for the beanie Boo on the bedside table of an adult, in the car, in the school bag, or in the overnight bag. Boos are like that, for sure.

And some of it is straightforward collecting. Retired designs, licensed ranges like Marvel and Disney, seasonal releases that come and go. Adults who collect sneakers or stamps will recognise the pattern immediately. The entry price just happens to be about twelve dollars, which makes this one of the more financially sensible collecting hobbies a person can fall into.

Adult buyers tend to care most about condition, and this is where we can help. Everything we sell is brand new, never secondhand, sourced direct from Ty through their authorised Australian distributor, with heart tags in the state a collector wants them. Add a tag protector and your desk dragon stays mint.

Whatever your age: welcome. The eyes get everyone eventually.
